Lake Natron: "Leaving the beaten track"
Lake Natron: "Leaving the beaten track". Far from the crowds, in a seemingly uninhabitable area, you will find the splendour of Lake Natron & the sacred mountain of the Masaai: Ol Donyo Lengai. It is difficult to describe in words why a visit to this region is for so many people the highlight of a trip to Tanzania.
However, we too have lost our hearts to this place. This destination is the ideal complement to a safari, guaranteeing adventure away from the crowds in a unique & authentic setting.
What makes this place so magical? There is the salt lake with its flamingos, up to one and a half million of them. Maybe it is the admiration for the Maasai who bravely herd their flocks in this inhospitable area as they have done for centuries? It could also just be their sacred mountain, Ol Doinyo Lengai, a unique active volcano that erupts at regular intervals. For some, it is the hike to the local waterfall, a green oasis in a desert setting. And for the more daring, it is undoubtedly the physically challenging ascent of the Mountain of God.
Engare Sero, the small authentic Masai village, is the ideal base for excursions to Ol Donyo Lengai & Lake Natron. It is a six-hour drive from Arusha, and only three hours from Mto wa Mbu, a central location for safari-goers coming from the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Manyara. It is best to discover this place in all comfort from a unique tented lodge, or from a remote campsite with swimming pool and an unbelievable panoramic view of the vast surroundings.
Serengeti
Serengeti stands for endless plains. On these grassy plains, with an area larger than Flanders, you will not only find the 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra that make up the migration. There are also unrivalled numbers of lions, leopards and cheetahs.
Ngorongoro: "Discover one of the wonders of the world".
The high plains of Ngorongoro Conservation Area are especially known for its impressive crater, also called Africa's Garden of Eden or the Eighth Wonder of the World. A beautiful place for a safari.
Enduimet: "The hidden gem at the footstep of Kilimanjaro".
Enduimet Wildlife Management Area, a beautiful area stretching west of Kilimanjaro, is still a well-kept secret. This hidden gem, situated between Amboseli National Park and Kilimanjaro National Park, forms a vital corridor for large herds of elephants.
Tarangire: "The largest concentration of elephants in the world".
Tarangire National Park, home of the elephant'. You can read this just before you enter the park. We would add the baobab to that! But the main attraction of this beautiful national park is indeed the unparalleled number of elephants. A must for your safari!
Kilimanjaro Expeditions
This adventure requires good preparation. Good equipment, high-quality guides, a certain degree of comfort for your overnight stays and optimal planning are no superfluous luxury. After all, they significantly increase your chances of a successful expedition.
Arusha: "'Safari & Hiking Capital"
Arusha is the ideal base for the start of an ascent of Mt. Meru (4560m) & Kilimanjaro (5895m). Safaris depart from Arusha. Arusha is the place for a night out, good food, a cultural walk...
Zanzibar: "White beaches, relaxing"
The 'zan' of Tan'zan'ia, that idyllic tropical island with azure waters and pearly white beaches. The best reason to visit Zanzibar, in our opinion, is very simple: it is the ultimate place to look back on a rewarding safari, Kilimanjaro climb or other adventure.
